Notifications are an essential ally in managing your activity. To ensure this ally is always on your side and never becomes a "hindrance" to your good management/productivity, this article will detail what you need to (know) do!
The Notification Center is used to manage all notifications issued by BoondManager. You can configure the notifications you want to receive and also choose which device (web application, email, mobile application) you want to receive them on.
Summary
⠀
Notification configuration
To access the configuration of your Notification Center, you need to:
Click on the notification bell
Click on the cogwheel (configuration)
Once in the configuration screen, you can, for each notification offered:
📨 Enable/Disable sending a notification by Email
🔕 Enable/Disable certain notifications: so they no longer appear in your Notification Center
⠀
❓Activation tips
To make them as relevant as possible, we recommend:
do not enable all notifications: in this case, you will receive notifications that may be useless to you and will gradually cause you to abandon proper reading/management of your notifications
do not disable all notifications: in this case, you will no longer be notified and may miss key information for proper management of your work
do not hesitate to disable certain channels (email, mobile): it is not useful to be notified everywhere, this duplicates information, creates unnecessary stress AND harms our beloved 🌍
Once you have saved your configuration, it will be applied to your future notifications (this will not impact past notifications).
💡Why are some options not deactivatable/activatable?
Some notifications cannot be disabled because they are necessary for collaboration/monitoring functions. Some notifications cannot be sent to the mobile application because the modules present in it do not yet allow them to be viewed/handled.
However, you can disable email sending for the vast majority of notifications and you can easily "Mark all as read" notifications that are less relevant to you (see "👀 Mark a notification as 'read'" for more explanations).
⠀
Access your notifications
Hang in there, this step is certainly the most complex you have ever seen/read (editor's note: it's a joke...). For this, nothing could be simpler, from any BoondManager page, just click on the bell at the top right:
Once your notification panel is open, you will see your notification list appear, with the following information:
Notification state: read / unread (see the section "👀 Mark a notification as 'read'")
Category: notifications are sorted by tab according to their category
Number of unread notifications: a badge summarizes this number by category (see "⏰ Keep a notification for later" for more explanations)
"Unread only" filter: allows you to focus on the essentials (see "⏰ Keep a notification for later" for more explanations)
Configure your notifications: as explained in the first part of this article (⚙️ Notification configuration)
⠀
Handling the alert
Notifications are there to alert you to an event that (normally) concerns you. Therefore, to handle them, simply click on the notification from your Notification Center.
By doing so, you will be redirected to the view that gives you more details about the relevant event. If, however, you do not wish to see the details of this notification, then no one is forcing you and you can simply mark it as "read" by referring to the section below.
⠀
Mark a notification as "read"
❓Handled = read
If you clicked on a notification (to handle it), it is automatically considered "read".
If you do not need to consult the details of the card at the origin of the notification, you can simply mark the notification as "read". To do this, you can:
Individually
By clicking on the circle to the right of the notification, you can "Mark as read" the relevant notification. By doing so, it will no longer be counted in the badge indicating the number of "unread" notifications for each tab.
Bulk/Mass action
You can click on "Mark all as read" to mark all notifications in the tab (Activity section or Discussion threads) as "read".
All = Notification of the observed category
When you click on "Mark all as read", only the notifications in the tab you are in are marked as "read". Thus, you can be up to date on notifications related to your activity but keep those related to discussion threads for later (and vice versa).
⠀
Keep a notification for later
Don’t worry, just because you’ve viewed your notification list doesn’t mean you won’t be able to know what’s left to handle ("I saw" does not mean "I handled"). To allow you to keep notifications for later, simply toggle the "read" / "unread" state.
How to focus on what remains to be handled?
To do this, simply check the "Unread only" filter. Then, all you have to do is handle them or mark them as "read" to stay up to date on your notifications to handle.
