Create/Manage a Sandbox

Written by Charlie Troccaz

A sandbox is a blank space with none of your data but contains the same "Global Settings" as your "production" interface. You can use this space to perform tests and/or developments without risk of granting access to sensitive data or modifying them unintentionally. This article will describe how to create and manage your sandbox.

Create a Sandbox

Prerequisite 1

Sandbox creation is available only with our ADVANCED plan.

Prerequisite 2

To create a sandbox, you must have access rights to the BoondManager administration interface.

Admin interface > section "Technical sections" > Developer space > tab "API/Sandbox"

  • Click on "Create your sandbox"

  • Confirm the acceptance message appearing on screen

Your sandbox is now created and you should see the following screen:

It's not finished!

If you stop here, no user will be able to access and use your sandbox. You must therefore:

  • Go to your sandbox

  • Create / configure (at least) a manager account

Access your sandbox

As an administrator of your BoondManager interface, you can directly access the administration interface of your sandbox. This will allow you to create your first "Managers" accounts, configure their rights and also create/configure the various settings of your administration (legal agencies, applications, ...)

Attention if several BoondManager tabs are open

Be sure to save and close your various BoondManager tabs before performing this operation because when you request to log in to this interface, all your tabs will then be disconnected from your production interface.

Admin interface > section "Technical sections" > Developer space > tab "API/Sandbox"

By doing this, you will be logged out from your BoondManager "production" interface and you will then be logged in to your sandbox.

I was logged out without being logged in to my sandbox

This is most likely because you have several active BoondManager tabs. To prevent this from happening again, close all these tabs then repeat these steps working from a single tab.

From this sandbox, you can create and activate several user accesses for your tests according to your pricing.

So remember to create one or more accounts with sufficient rights for the developers who will use this interface. To help you with this step, feel free to follow this tutorial: Create and configure a manager account.

Create your first Manager account

This step is necessary for you to use your sandbox. Without it, you will not be able to access modules (other than administration).

First go to Managers / Roles then log in to the main Manager of the sandbox using the spy icon on the right:

You are now logged in as the sandbox administrator, and can create up to 3 users for your tests.

To move forward with this step, we invite you to follow the steps in the following tutorial: Create and configure a manager account.

Don't forget the Administration right

If you want your user to be able to access administration (which will be necessary to perform developments independently), don't forget to give your user the right to access administration.

Reset your sandbox

If you want to delete all the data contained in your sandbox and reset it with the "Global Settings" from your production interface, this operation is for you.

All your sandbox data will be lost

If you perform this operation, all data (except for dictionaries corresponding to the "Global Settings" and "Translation" sections) will be deleted with no possibility of rollback.

Admin interface > section "Technical sections" > Developer space > tab "API/Sandbox"

From this section, click on Delete your sandbox then validate after reading everything that this deletion implies.

Once the deletion is complete, you can create a new sandbox by following the process described at the beginning of this tutorial.
