In BoondManager, it is strongly discouraged to turn an internal consultant into an external one and vice versa. To properly manage the change of type of a resource, from internal to external or the other way around, the best practice is to:
set an end date for their contract
set the resource that is changing type to the "Exit" state
recreate the resource (with the same name) using the new type
establish a new contract.

Note
HR contracts / Subcontracting are based on the type of resource to determine the Average Daily Cost (ADC):
For an external consultant, the daily rate will be used.
For an internal consultant, their salary and any contractual benefits and expenses will be used.
